The Tactical Adjustment System

The TAS Tactical Adjustment System is not a calculator
TAS is a circular reference table that is custom made for each individual round/rifle combination. Your input is minimal and just requires that you rotate the disc so that the range appears in the "range window", then, just read off the settings shown in the "solution window" and adjust your scope accordingly - it is really easy to achieve the kind of scores you have always dreamt of!

Low Tech - but designed that way

TAS is 'Low Tech' but was designed in a 'Low Tech' form for the following reasons:
Digital Units require batteries or alternative power sources. Power sources are affected by extremes of temperature (heat,  and especially cold). Batteries can fail at critical moments and they also increase the weight of any unit requiring their use. Batteries need to be kept constantly charged and readily available. No matter how rugged and/or waterproof digital units may appear to be, even those units rated to 'Mil Spec' carry a high risk of damage leading to operating faults and failures. TAS has No Batteries, No Electronics and No Software!

Tough and durable

The TAS is manufactured in High Grade Polycarbonate and is, therefore, both tough and lightweight. The TAS is unaffected by extremes of temperature, rain, condensation or dampness, fresh or saltwater and will withstand submergence to any depth. The TAS is unaffected by dirt or grime - just wash off or flush with water - any available water! If the environment in which the shooter is operating, changes dramatically, it takes less than 15 seconds to alter the TAS disc to suit the environment - even when dexterity may be impaired by cold weather or in conditions that require gloves to be worn.

Simplicity itself at the firing point

The High-Tech Calculations are all completed prior to the disc being issued so the TAS is simplicity itself to operate at the firing point. The TAS does not aid in calculating ranges but, once ranging has been completed, TAS enables the rapid adjstment of optics to effect accurate shot placement - achieved through many hours of calculating and compiling accurate ballistic data. If required, TAS discs can be supplied in metric form. How much simpler can that be?

Incline Ranges

Incline Ranges do not need  to be recalculated from straight line ranges - just decide the incline value and rotate the relevant incline range ring to the window - the elevation/wind settings appear in the solution window.

Secure and easily replaceable

If the TAS is lost it is relatively inexpensive to replace, but more importantly no sensitive information is lost and, because it is custom matched to an individual weapon/cartridge combination, is practically useless to any other party.

Tactical Adjustment Systems - Your TAS Unit
So, exactly how do we go about producing your Ammunition/Rifle Specific TAS Unit and Data Disc?

Initially we, or if you purchase through our UK Distributors, Aquity, will request the necessary ballistic information from you. This will include:

  • Details of your Rifle
  • Ammunition Details - If a factory load, manufacturer, calibre, bullet type and weight and muzzle velocity (if you have recent chronograph results)
If home load, calibre, bullet type and weight, powder and primers used, muzzle velocity and any other relevant reloading information.*
  • The Make and Details about your Scope including the height of the scope above the centre of the bore and the type of output required to match your sighting system.
  • Your choice of metric or imperial input and output data including range and inclination input parameters.
  • Your choice of output windows and priority for temperature and/or altitude adjustment (a small charge is made if additional windows are required but this also covers the additional and resetting of data on the ballistic data disc - currently £15.00 plus VAT per window)
  • Additional Information or Data required to be etched onto rear of TAS Unit. (A small additional charge for each etched item, table or identification mark will be added - presently £5 per item)
  • You have a choice of TAS Unit Finish - Olive Drab, Swat Black or Clear are No Extra Cost options. All our coated Units are pre-coated by the experts in this field, Hydro-graphics of York. Other coating options also include, at extra cost, additional colours and RealTree?.

*TAS Limited offers a load development service to rifle shooters. By working with you and then adding or utilising our own data and information, we can undertake load development on your behalf. You can spend a day with the specialists working on the project and attend the testing and data verification work as your ammunition is perfectly matched to your TAS System and Ballistic Data Disc. Charges for load development start at around £100 per day and is  subject to the additional development work that may be required.

Ballistic Information is checked before Production.

Upon receipt of your information, you will receive a communication verifying your clarifying your ballistic information. This is an ideal time for you to give us details for any additional requirements and also discuss your order before we start the process of calculating and checking the Data required for your TAS Ballistic Data Disc.

Real World Data and Live Firing Results are added.

Once the input information has been calculated the resultant data is checked and verified as a preliminary step. The data will be re-verified later with live firing verification procedures. When we are satisfied with the test results, then, and only then, is the data approved for inclusion on your Ballistic Data Disc.

Production of TAS Units and Ballistic Data Discs.

You Data Disc is produced on our latest CNC Machines. Data Discs are produced under constant supervision to ensure quality is consistent and tolerances are constant. Your TAS Unit is hand assembled after any additional windows or data have been added. Because we use strict machining tolerances, all TAS data discs are compatible. The disc is checked and hand fitted to ensure that it turns without binding and that there is no excessive slackness or "play". The unit front and rear sections are fixed with removable screws. No adhesive is used. This allows easy replacement of unit components, if required, at a future date. Discs can be removed or replaced without any tools, so a change of calibre, for example, takes just seconds to complete.

Padded Pouch for TAS Unit and Ballistic Data Discs included.

A final check of the Unit and the Disc and your TAS is despatched, either to our distributors or directly to you, our customer, together with your included TAS pouch which will comfortably hold the Unit and several Data Discs.

NOW even more TAS for your Money!

Your Tactical Adjustment System Unit and Data Disc are bespoke items produced under the personal supervision of the TAS Designer, Dougie Lorimer, and are hand assembled and checked throughout the manufacturing processes. As a TAS Customer, you get all this for our new "off the shelf price" of £65 including VAT.

When you require discs for new rifles and claibers, for a change of ammunition or just as a duplicate, you can order and have the new Data Disc produced to the same high production standards for the low price of £35 + VAT (currently 15%)
